The BPI Multifamily Building Analyst (MFBA) conducts energy audits and performs overall building performance evaluations of multifamily buildings. These building professionals examine the relationship between the building’s various systems and apply knowledge and skills to complete comprehensive evaluations of existing buildings to make prioritized recommendations that improve occupant health, safety, and comfort as well as the building’s energy efficiency and durability.
Candidates must successfully complete 2 on-line exams. One 2 hour, 75-question exam with a passing score of 65% or higher, and a 1.5 hour 50-question picture-based practical exam within one (1) year of each other and a passing score of 65% or higher.
On-line classes are conducted by Build Green Maine.
BPI Multifamily Building Analysts must recertify every 3 years
On-site: (North Pond Home Performance Training Center) offers on-site MFBA energy auditor training on multifamily buildings, 5 - 24 units with specific characteristics that can be adequately addressed given the individual agency's district and adequate amount of housing staff when multiple blower doors tests are conducted. The training will cover the many variations of conducting blower door tests (if possible) and some of the unique features when auditing MF buildings.
